From Our Residents and Families

At Kindred Healthcare, our hard work and efforts are rewarded daily by the patients and residents we serve. Not only are we thanked in person on a regular basis, we receive countless letters, poems and artwork showing appreciation. This story is representative of many we receive. For more letters received by this center, contact the admissions director.

Success Story: Jim R.

On July 23, 2007, I was involved in a head-on collision. I was med-flighted to Huntsville hospital intensive care unit. I remained under sedation for 9 days with a total stay of 24 days. My injuries included 2 fractures in the left arm, a left femur break, a crushed right ankle, 6 broken ribs, fractured sternum, bruised heart, collapsed lung, and assorted other cuts, abrasions, and bruises. On August 16 2007, after 5 surgeries attempting to correct these injuries, I was discharged from Huntsville Hospital and admitted to Whitesburg Gardens. My condition at that point kept me virtually bedridden. Through the help of the nursing staff and the therapists, within the first thirty days, I was able to regain use of my left arm which is now back to pre-accident capability. For the next three months the therapy department intensified their efforts and the level of nursing and aid care remained at a constant high level. These efforts have allowed me to progress to my present state of being able to transfer from the wheelchair unaided and to stand for short periods of time on my left leg. I am now at home and receiving addition therapy and medical observation that has allowed me to continue building upon the therapy and care provided to me at Whitesburg Gardens.

Without the tireless dedication of the staff and therapy departments there is no way that I would have progressed to this level of improvement. My thanks and appreciation fall short of expressing my gratitude to all involved.

Sincerely, Jim R.
